MONICA CAMPORI

Italian Kenyan born Monica grew up running wild with her horses on a coffee farm in Thika. Very similar in fact to the author of the famous book “Flame trees of Thika” , by Elspeth Huxley.
After an education in Kenya and South Africa, her lifelong passion for horses sent her to the UK to complete her British Horse Society exams. During this time she worked at various Show Jumping yards in the UK and all over Italy.

On returning to Kenya she successfully managed a riding school, of 30 horses, for 4 years, and also guided on several Horse Safaris in the Masai Mara , Chyulu Hills, Northern Tanzania and the Rift Valley. In between safaris and sourcing horses and ponies for various people, Monica runs the African Connoisseur office and in her free time trains polo ponies and competes at open level in three day events. Monica has represented Kenya in International dressage competitions in Zimbabwe; 3 Day Events and Show Jumping in Swaziland and she continues to compete locally with her own 6 horses, which she trains herself. Her life is horses and their psychology and she would love to share this with other like minded people riding across amazing African wilderness and appreciating uninterrupted nature from the quiet of a horse’s back.
