ALEX WALKER

Alex Walker, a Kenyan by birth, has been guiding and outfitting safaris throughout East Africa for twenty years. During his childhood he was to be found in the bush of Southern Tanzania, the forests of the Mau in Kenya and the mountains and vast wilderness of Southern Sudan. Alex spent his time in the bush on foot hunting and exploring with his father’s trackers. It was this early fascination with the animals and birds of the bush that convinced Alex as early as five years old that this was to be his vocation in life.

Apprenticing at seventeen with Robin Hurt and Danny McCallum upon leaving school, Alex qualified as a fully licensed professional hunter at the age of nineteen and has since hunted in Tanzania, Botswana, Sudan, Central Africa and Kenya.

Alex now thirty-eight currently operates from his charismatic Mara home at Serian. Alex is a senior partner in “The African Connoisseur” and Ol Tome Safaris Ltd and spends his time outfitting and operating safaris throughout East Africa. Specializing in photographic, walking and horseback safaris. Operating exploratory safaris in the deserts of northern Kenya, the waterways of Uganda and the Gorilla laden forests of Rwanda. Often venturing as far as the spectacular mountains of Ethiopia, the game ridden plains of Tanzania and the famed Okovango Delta in Botswana.

Some years ago Alex started “Malaika Media”, a film and production company together with John Moller and Kire Godal, with a view to producing informative and exciting wildlife and conservation oriented documentaries. Malaika is now an award winning Production Company and continues to create revealing programmes.

At the same time Alex enjoys keeping his hand in recording some of Africa’s unique images on film.
